Believe in your smile

I always have those days
Where I just feel alone
I can’t truly explain
Why this is so.

I can be surrounded
The entire day
By friends, acquaintances, strangers
Yet, alone is how I feel.

And when I have one of those days
I just feel like hiding,
Now I know that there’s
A better way.

When I’m feeling alone
I’ll smile,
Because smiling is something
Precious.
When I’m alone I’ll
Sing to myself
And remember those by my side.

Even if I’m not in someone’s arms.
Even if I’m not with a friend.
I will tell myself
That I am loved
Because now I know that I shouldn’t tear.

Smiling will allow
More doors to open,
Where I can be myself.
So I’ll do like I used to
Before I knew of troubles in life.

I’ll do like I used to
When I was very small.
I will simply smile
And scare it away
I won’t allow
Loneliness
To stay.

So I will smile
Like I used to.
I will sing to myself.
I will keep a happy face

And only when tears
Threat to fall,
Will I let the smile go
Will I let my true feelings
Show…

Because by smiling I can warm up
People around me and myself,
Because when I smile
Everything’s okay,
Because when I smile
Love will stay.
